XL 30 updated map a few years back, never worked. got brain injury , now trying to get working

i updated the map a few years back with the tomtom home software on my xl 30, but then the map would not load. when booting i get error that says problem with map you cannot use this map on this device . i had a medical condition and was unable to much for the past few years, and this got packed away, well id like to get my moneys worth out of this device i didn't get to use.

    I may be the bringer of bad news....
    Many of the XL Models tomtom has declared to be end of life
    Check the first two characters of your serial number

    Re... Eol End of life Devices
    Devices with lifetime maps are not affected

    yes , i see when i hook it up with the home software now, it tells me its end of life, thats fine, im not interested in new maps. i do remember i updated the gps with the tomtom software, and thats what broke it, but i was never able to follow up on it back then because of my health . thanks for the replies.

    Welcome to the community!

    A map has been activated for your device.

    Just remove the existing map first and then download a fresh version using TomTom HOME.

    thanks VikramK . i did not see any option to remove or download a map on the tomtom home program, the use tomtom route planer, operate my xl, purchase maps are all grayed out. i deleted the folder that i think was the map called usa canada, and still the same things on the tomtom home program with some of the options grayed out...i does say no maps on the device when it boot now, so im assuming i deleted the map....... if i cant get it working, its not a big deal, i see these sell for under 20 bucks now, and ill just get a used one.

    I have reactivated the map for your device. Just remove the existing map first and then download a fresh version using TomTom HOME.
