XL classic map update failure

I am trying to update the map for my XL classic - LIFETIME maps from western_europe 1025.9436 to the latest
1030 map. It seems that there is insufficient space on the (4GB) device. Deleting the old map and trying to add the new one by TOM TOM HOME (more than 3GB free) does not help.
Any suggestion or I have just to buy a new device?

no. Unfortunately, it is not so. No message that the map does not fit on my device (it fits, the map is 2 GB and half). It goes on, and during the installation there is a message saying that there is no sufficient space on / (on the device) for temp files, and the installation aborts.
It seems a HOME bug.
