"Manage Community Content" missing from menu

Jetlagged787Jetlagged787 Posts: 22 [Outstanding Wayfarer]
When I download the Tomtom MyDrive connect for Windows 7 I get an error message naming the file "... TempMDC.lnk" and stating that, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action..."

I have two questions:

1. How do I correct this error please?

2. Am I correct in thinking that this will be the cause of the "Manage Community Content" being missing from the menu?

I have tried deleting and reinstalling MyDrive Connect with PC restart between.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Try this Version of myDrive connect
    http://sa.services.tomtom.com/static/sa/versions/InstallMyDriveConnect_downgrade.exe

The "Manage Comunity content" should be there
Or you can use this link when the device is connected with MyDrive Connect

    Hi all

    @Jetlagged787

When you try to install MyDrive Connect (MDC) software, you must use a PC user account with "Administrator Rights". This is what your error message suggests.
Does your Windows 7 have the SP1 pack?

1/ If you have W7 with SP1, you can use the last MDC version.
    - With your device Not connected to the PC.
    - Uninstall MDC, accept the removal of downloads in the popup window.
    - "Restart" your PC (Not Shut Down or Sleep)
    - Download and install the latest version for your Windows OS, take it here:

2 / If you have W7 Without SP1, you can only install and use the "downgrade version" of MyDrive Connect. This version is built like the previous before january 2018 with Visual C++ 2010.

In both solutions you will recover "Manage Community Content".

    Regards.

Thanks for the suggestions @Lochfrass, but neither worked. As I downloaded from the first link I received the usual error message regarding TempMDC.lnk not having a program associated with it.

Trying your second suggestion immediately gave the error message,

"This page isn’t working 169.254.255.1 is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500."

I appreciate your help though. Off to try LAURE123's suggestions next though I've already tried that work through once. Never hurts to give it another go!

    Thanks.

    Hi @LAURE123

Thanks for your suggestions. I can confirm that I have SP1 installed and I am logged in as an administrator. Despite that, when I download MDC i get the same error message that TempMDC.lnk does not have a program associated with it. "Manage Community Content" is still not available.

@VikramK Can you help at all please?
