basic question: ive found answers to everything else other than this. I have several POI files i have created / updated over the last ten years but the WNRO update has effectively killed my trusty One XL.
doesnt work. Mydrive refuses to detect old One XL and the new one isnt registered by the PC as a drive. Old TT Home V11 will not recognise Via 52 either.
The instructions on how to register the new via 52 in device manager etc dont work either.
So now im stuck with a new satnav that ive had to buy because a software fix stops my old one from working, and now find I cant transfer all my vital POI files between devices rendering the new Via 52 useless....
If your device is detected in MyDrive Connect similar to this one
In The Faq "My Drive" means https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/
There you can upload the .ov2 files
as i stated in my OP the OLD satnav does NOT show up in MyDrive. I am accessing POI files copied onto my HDD on the PC.
I have since i posted found the import POI function in my places, but this does not import all OV2 files. I have 29 OV2 files of which 25 I need to migrate. so far ive managed only 6. The others when I select them and OK just do not import into mydrive.
The 6 that HAVE migrated into Mydrive are not transferred onto the Via52 device and I cant see why. The instructions state that if they dont immediately come across, they will the next time the device is powered and logged in, but this also does not work. I have logged out, powered down, disconnected the device, closed down mydrive on the PC and restarted three times now, each time with the same result.
There is no import option on the Myplaces on the satnav device itself, that would allow the device to talk directly to the PC without using the MyDrive interface, as I could do with the OneXL. none of the POIs imported into MyDrive on the PC show up in my places on the device.
Frankly im appalled as to how bloody difficult this is. I am on the road again at 0800 tomorrow and i have now spent 6 hours on this when it shouldnt have taken more than 30 minutes. I need this done - i am close to repacking it all back into the box and returning it to the shop as a very expensive waste of time.
You cannot transfer voices. What voices are you interested in as if you list them here then one of the mods may be able to add them to your account if they can.
theyre voices I have on my OneXL. I would like a silent voice file however, so I can omit the spoken commands but leave all the warnings etc to sound but Im not that bothered TBH if i could get them on id be happier than I am now, Its the POIs that are causing me concerns. One of the other guys has posted a link to the same adding POI page and ive watched it, but its not doing what it says it will.
edit: ive managed to get 6 to upload to MyDrive on the PC and carried across onto the new satnav. If i cant get the remaining POIs onto the new device then its going back to the shop monday as its no use to me - theres far too many to remember and manually add.

@Phlyer
There are a couple of threads on the Forum about the .Ov2 POI file loading bug that was introduced recently to the MyDrive Web Route planner... It seems that small .Ov2 POI files aren't synced to the Tomtom Cloud or Tomtom NAV4/5 Devices
see... https://discussions.tomtom.com/en/discussion/1114924/can-no-longer-upload-custom-pois/p1
Sound Otions....
