Hello, I am planning to buy essential 6 navigation, but I have a question: does it show traffic jams (like the google maps application) when connected to the phone?

Yes it has Lifetime Traffic via Smartphone. Have a look at the link where traffic is covered

If TomTom knows the traffic jam he will be displayed.
A faster route is not recommended until it is expected to be faster.
So it may be that it will lead you into the traffic jam if the detour suggests a longer journey time.
If you have an Android mobile phone you can try the Go Mobile app from tom tom. It is free for 75km

Hi @migralpl
The following happened on a recent trip of about 4 hours .
After about 2 hours I was advised that there was a 29 minute delay on my route and the expected time of arrival now included this delay time.. It continued to tell me about the delay until I was within 1 hour, including the delay time, of the destination
I had worked out where the delay was and knew what route I would take to avoid it. When I was within 1 hour of the destination the Tomtom then advised me of a quicker route which was 21 minutes faster and I took it. It was the alternative route I had in mind.
The Tomtom did not advise the alternative route until I was quite near it as the delay could disappear by the time I got there or the delay time became shorter and so at some time it would consider any alternative route was not worth taking.

Thank you for the information - that is, if you get a cork, say, 5 km away from me on my route, it will be automatically navigated by this cork and will redirect me to another route without traffic jams?0
