Tom tom 550 - Unwired?

I wonder if I can leave the device on the bike unwired as it's a provisionary bike. Would I damage the cable on since it's exposed?

Pretty expensive, but it does the trick. Kit includes:
- Plastic cover for the contacts
- Plastic cover for the power-plug
- Piece of screen protection / anti-glare foil
