Memory Card can not be formated on device

My tomtom Go 5000 doesn't have enough memory to hold Europe any longer. I had to by a new card.

64GB seems to be the new standard so I bought a Samsung microSDXC UHS-I Card.

The documentation and application does say anything about a maximumsize so I assume that will be fine.
It tells me to format the card first on my computer using Fat32 on Windows or ExFat on Mac. My Windows10 doesn't allow me to format it as Fat32 to I pick exFat instead.

I insert the memory card into the devide and reboot the device. When I try to format the card from the device, I'm told to format it on a pc instead.

How do I get my device to accept my memory card?

Thanks

    Hi
    @phmDK

    The Full Europe Map size 8.9GB exceeding the on-board Memory size on the NAV4 devices is an unfortunate, but real Catch22 situation....
    For the larger Maps like the Full Europe map you need to install a Micro SDHC memory card
    The Map cannot be split across the on-board Memory and a Micro SDHC Card...The latest Full Europe Map is 8.9GB so a 8GB Memory Card is useless a 16GB or 32GB is required (32GB is the Max size Micro SDHC Card for a Tomtom device)

    Maybe @VikramK or @lampard the Forum Moderators will allocate a smaller Map to your Account
    The advantage of the small Map would be plenty of working space on the device and the smaller map will also act as a 'Keeper'... This will enable the device to keep running on the smaller Map and avoid the Catch22 situation No Maps Found Error, where the device won't boot-up past the No Maps Found Error to allow access to the 'Format option' to allow the use of a 16GB or 32GB Micro SDHC memory card
    Also if you ever need to remove the Micro SDHC Card for any reason... Like transferring pre-planned routes via a Micro SDHC Card or Formatting a new/replacement Micro SDHC Card, the Keeper Map will allow the device to keep running

    So tomtom devices don't support 64GB Micro SDHC cards? :-(

    Hi
    @Lesterblue

    The NAV4 Full Europe Map size is now 8.465GB... Also the fact that the MapZones have now also exceed the 8GB of the NAV4 on-board Memory... This is an unfortunate, but real Catch22 situation....

    Catch22 situation No Maps Found Error....
    Tomtom are allocating a small map to install on the on-board Memory of the NAV4 devices, to give access to the Micro SDHC Card Format Option

    If you wish to just stick with using the internal memory Instead of using a Micro USB Card
    Tomtom have released the Europe map in different Map Cuts (Map zones)... Will any of these new Maps suit your travel requirements ???

    Hi @Lesterblue

    You have a smaller map installed on your device(UK and ROI) which should not consume the full memory on the device.

    I would suggest that you try a factory reset which should help free up some space.

    Main menu- Settings-System-Reset device

    I have installed a 256 GB Micro SD card by Sorene. No success it does not format in the TomTom, but does format on the PC, but the TomTom does not recognise it after that. It is TomTom GO Premium X.

    Too large. A 32GB sized card should work fine.
