Magnetic mount query...

Looking at replacing my outdated Tt satnav... All the alternatives I am considering seem to come with a 'magnetic mount' - how does that work, as cars (dashboard/windscreen) are mostly plastic & glass???

I would prefer a suction-cup mounting device (for the windscreen) - which one, if available from Tt, would be compatible with the devices I am considering... GO 6200 (not sure if this is still available as not in Tt Shop)/GO Premium or Premium X

Thanks @YamFazMan - That explains a lot. So, is the 'magnetic' mount compatible with all current Tt satnav devices, regardless of size? I guess if Tt are now using these magnetic mount devices, that means that their satnavs must have a certain amount of magnetic material in the casing, right?
