How to transfer all my way points from a XXL 540S to a new GPS

Hi there. I have a older XXL 540S that is starting to become unreliable. I have hundreds of way points programmed into this GPS and would like to purchase a new Tom TOM and transfer all the way points to my new one. Can this be done. I'm even willing to ship the thing to the company so I do not loose the information. I use this for work and would loose years on information. Please help.

The official Tomtom Method... Can be long-winded if you have lots of Favorites
    See Tomtom Video...

    Using 3rd party software...
(1)….. Saving your (Favorites) List from your Tomtom XXL using the free version of Softops POI editor
    Download Softop POI editor…..
To a folder on your desktop; open the folder and un-zip the file.

(1.1)..... “IMPORTANT” If Tomtom’s “MyDrive” is not already running
Start-up My Dive there’s no need to login but Tomtom MyDrive must be running on the taskbar
Tomtom changed something several of updates ago and now Softop POI editor needs MyDive running in the background to work

(1.2)..... Run the TomPoiEdrEn.exe file; you should now have the SoftTop POI editor running. Connect your Tomtom XXL to your PC USB port and turn it on.
When you GO 750 has connected the Softops Icons will change colour

Scroll down this page for the instructions for using the Softops POI editor : here...
The downward arrow Icon saves the Favorite file from my NAV3 Via 120 device
Sorry I haven't got a NAV2 device here to test so you will have to have a play around yourself

Note: I think the development SoftTop POI editor has stopped as you can no longer access Google Earth or Maps from within the program and the author does not reply to Email

The favorites are not my problem. Its the 100's of way-points that I have added over the years that I have been using the unit. They only allow so many favorites, but unlimited way-points.

When you say Way-points Do you mean you have created a Personal POI Catagory to store you locations as POIs .Ov2 files instead of using Favorites

See here is this what you are doing...
    Quote fron the above link....
    Advantages of POIs over Favourites
Favourites are places that you go to often. You can create Favourites so that you don’t have to enter the address every time you want to navigate there. They don’t have to be places you like, just useful addresses.

Points of Interest or POIs are interesting places on the map. Some examples could be restaurants, hotels, museums, parking garages or petrol stations.

You can split your locations into different POI categories (e.g. ‘private’ and ‘business’).
While the number of Favourites is limited to 48 per map (to 100 on Carminat TomTom), the number of POIs is unlimited within a POI category. You can have upto 100 POI categories on your TomTom.
Your POIs are not lost when you reset factory settings .
You can easily transfer your POIs from one map to another when you purchase a new release of your map in the future.

I haven got a NAV2 device but on my NAV3 device my Personal POI folder is next down the list following the Favorites folder
When using the POI Editor as suggested in my 1st post....

I apologize. I mean POI's thank you so much. I have moved all my favorites to the suggested folder. I will let you know how it works out when I decide which GPS unit I will be getting .

Tomtom has said that models with lifetime maps will continue to receive them. Call support but don't provide a model when asked in order for a live agent to respond:

No it isn't a scam, If your device Does have Lifetime Maps

Eol End of life Devices... Devices with lifetime maps are not affected

See... Find the model of your navigation device and what software it uses

Devices with lifetime maps are not affected
Tomtom have already stated that Lifetime Maps and any Existing Map Subscriptions will be honoured

See VikramK Post (TomTom Staff) Here....

    Quote from the above Link....
However, you will not be able to order Services(LIVE and Speed cameras) purchase new maps for other regions on the TomTom webshop
    End Quote....

If you have Lifetime Maps or an existing Map Subscriptions
    Call Tomtom Support....

    When calling....
Tomtom are monitoring Eol support by an Auto Response System
When prompted DO NOT provide your Tomtom model information, wait for a live agent to respond
