Maps disappeared

I have a Start 25. Couldn't find GPS for hours and hours so tried to download a smaller map for the device. When I was installing (wifi on, usb in etc.) it encountered an error, and now when I've gone back on to my device, all my maps have disappeared. To download another UK map is £35 which I don't want to spend(!)
I don't have a backup. Help?
