Did the problem with no POI's ever get solved?

Just wondering if this ever got updated. Been using my old 1000 whilst my new (a few years ago) 6000 has sat in a cupboard gathering dust. Basically the issue was not being able to add custom POI's and have notifications when near them. Can't live without knowing where all the McDonalds and KFC's are!

Hi @federal
You can add 3rd Party POI files to your GO6000 and the subsequent models. You can display the Poi's on the map. You can select a POI file and search it so you could see if there is a McD in a Town and you will get a list displayed with others as the distance from your search point increases. You can see the results of your Search on the Map. You can select which POI files are displayed on the map.
What you cannot do compared to the old models is:-
You cannot manage your POI files on the unit ie Add or Delete Poi's to a file. You can do that via Poi Edit on your PC.
You cannot download a .bmp file to the Unit is that when you display the Poi's on the Map they have for example a McD icon. What you cann do is allocate 1 of 5 Specific coloured Icon. You can allocate these icons to more than 1 POI file so for example you could have all the Shops displayed by the same coloured Icon which if you tap will give you information on what shop the Poi is .
You cannot allocate a sound to a POI file so that you know when you are near one.of its Poi.

Really shouldn't have changed the OS, it was much better as it was. All I wanted at the time was a larger screen and what I got was a sluggish lump of plastic with less features than I had before. Hoping it responds a bit quicker and doesn't decide to reboot itself when it feels like it with the latest updates or it'll be on ebay next week.0
