I have maps for Australia (where I live) and also have maps for France, Italy and the United Kingdom. I am travelling to the UK shortly and would like to update to allow me to use full postcodes, how do I do this?
It will depending on which GO 520 you have; the new still-supported model that uses MyDrive to connect to the TT servers or the old version that uses TTHome
I'm guessing if it's the new version you should just be able to add the postcodes ("zip") folder to your device via MyDrive. If it's the old version then you can grab a copy from here http://download.tomtom.com/open/zipcode/1025/great_britain.cab and put the 2 extracted files into a folder & name it zip then copy it to your devices root or take the ready made zip folder from here:- http://www.filefactory.com/file/3w19cauknocz/zip.rar
The latest NAV4/5 (Wi-Fi) devices all use the full UK Post Codes
The Postcodes are embedded into the map
Note... Do not use a Space in the the Postcode
Example...
Correct... SW1A1AA The big house at the end of the Mall
Incorrect... SW1A 1AA
As a fall back position select the UK map on your unit and Type in DH.FX where you search for addresses. Include the full stop when typing it. If you unit recognises Mapcodes then that should direct you to the middle gate at Buckingham Palace. Mapcodes cover the whole world and are accurate enough to virtually elect a Parking Bay in a Car Park. The Mapcode app recognises UK PostCodes and when you identify a position on the Google Earrh type map it gives you an Address, Long / Lat and Mapode for it.
Map codes were designed by Tomtom personnel and are unique to Tomtom units.
