GO Premium X identical to GO 6200 WiFi

I replaced my GO6200Wifi with the new GO Premium X, thinking
I was upgrading to a newer, better model, as it has been almost
3 years since I got my 6200.
I am disappointed to find that both units are identical apart from
a couple of functions to do with IFTTT.
Even down to my new Premium X being unable to say 'Reading'
(as in the UK town), as she says it as 'reading' (as in a book) just
like my 6200Wifi does.
So, unless you are desperate to open your garage door with your
TomTom, don't bother with the Premium (X). Get a 6200/5200 instead,
which are on offer with good discounts at the moment.
I am still a TomTom fan, but this is testing my loyalty to the limit.

And what is your question? How can I help you?

My question is:
Does anyone else agree that the GO Premium X is identical (apart from
a couple of software features) to the GO6200WiFi?
Should I have bothered replacing my GO6200WiFi with the GO Premium X?
I made a statement to help others. I know it is not a question,
I know it says 'ask a question'. I forgot to put it an a question form.
Thank you for your kind offer to help. You are a lovely friendly person.

totally agree MonsieurPoirot.1

As an upgrade to a 5200 or 6200 - I agree, there is no point really.
I think it's more of an upgrade if you own a 5100 or earlier/lesser model, with the new Premium features serving as a nice extra incentive.0 -
All GO 5200/6200 owners hope to get premium X software because it is the same hardware.0

But the name is new and the frame in gold is also impressive so you will get something 😉

I’ve just replaced my Go 5000 with the X and sad to report the sound quality out of the X is poor in comparison. Any way to make it sound less tinny?0

Hi
@somerset100
Tap the 4Dot (.... Menu) button... On the Menu Screen top right is a battery status Icon
Charging... Displays when Connected to a Power supply
Full Charge... Displays when Connected or Not Connected Power supply
Half Charge... Displays when NOT Connected Power supply
Low Battery... Displays when NOT Connected Power supply
One of the worst things you can do to a Lithium battery is to run it flat so at a certain percentage of discharge (Unspecified)... The device will go into 'Power Saving Mode' the screen will dull, and the device will eventually turn itself off (Not Sleep)
There is a Battery Status display available on the devices Status Screen
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound Continue to hold the on/off button until the Black & White Status screen is shown.....
If you are worrying about the device charging, you might consider one of these gadgetsOr
Simply plug the device into the USB socket and plug your lead into the USB Doctor, the device will display the Voltage and Power being used by your various USB devices
I have one of each type they're only peanuts to buy, search Amazon/eBay for USB Doctor

The response was a confirmation that the same speaker is used in the 5200 as the 5000, so I suspect the internal layout of the device is different, resulting in the speaker having less space to move in.
As a result, I don't think anything can be done to improve it.0 -
Hi
@StanStan100
Its the general more solid construction of the NAV4 GO 5xxx/6xxx devices that gives the better sound....
Come back Serena
I like to drive in the country with Serena by my side
I used to smile at miss-said words I knew she wouldn’t mind
Then my Six Two Hundred, replaced her at my side
Her name is still Serena "There’s something wrong" I sighed
She talks quite fast, is very brash, her voice I can’t abide
It must be her twin sister, saying where and how to drive
Tomtom please bring her back, I'm happy to Test-drive
But It’s the Old Serena that I like… Assisting while I drive

Why bother changing?
I keep receiving e-mail "loyalty discount to go premium".
Until features that have been removed from the original TOMTOM units are returned I have no desire to "upgrade". In particular if I can't pick a maximum speed for my journey on a "Premium" unit in 2019 then my money stays at the bank and TOMTOM can keep their unit in the warehouse...1 -
I highlighted this a few months ago about the same issue, if phone companies charged for an identical handset but with new software it would be all over the papers. If you had to buy a new PC/Mac just to get the latest O/s again we wouldn't accept it.1

so the premium X is NOT a faster processor than the 620/6200? I have the latter and it seems unable to cope a lot of the time, and responses are soo slow. was hoping premium X would be faster :-(0
