How long should device adding take?

I'm trying to update the TomTom Via. I downloaded the software on my Mac. It's been showing a screen that says "Your device is being added" for about 15-20 minutes now. Is this really how long it should take?
I just signed up for an account, then attempted to start the update.

    Which Via Model Number... The Via name is used across two Ranges of Tomtom Models
