TomTOm HOME will not open- Want to install updates on the XL device

Trying to update TomTom xl live tts via TomTom home, program will not open . Just asks for reinstall... looking to update newest before April 6, 2019 per TomTom free map updates expires. Reloaded TomTom Home 5 times to no avail, loaded TomTom Drive to no avail. Stating TomTom live gps does not open Home or Drive ??? Any help out there or is this unit just a paper weight ? Has USA maps and World maps that still work but no more updates????
