After the installation of two maps of Europe on my TomTom Start 42, only 163 MB is left for installation of new products, e. g. "voices". I was thinking of expanding the capacity by buying an extra memory card, but I can't find a slot to insert this extra card. Is there maybe another way to enlarge the memory capacity? Or is there a slot present I didn 't see?

Hi YamFazMan,
After inspecting my navagation device I still can't find a slot. The video which is referred to is overwhelming in showing possibilities. What I need is only a video of Tom TomStart42 and not all the videos of all the navigation devices Tom Tom brings into the market. I can't find the video that I need to solve my problem, but I shall ask a girl friend of mine who is experienced in solving such problemes to take a look at my TomTom Start42.0 -
Hi @Kees275
The wording from the manual.
Finding the memory card slot
The memory card slot is under the mount.
To insert a memory card, release the mount from the START using the thumb indent. Insert the memory card into the slot. Clip the mount back onto the device until you hear it click.
Think you will find the mount for yours is shown at 1min 11 secs into the video above where they unclip it..

Hi DougLap and YazFamMan,
I want to thank you both for your accurate, detailed and understandable instructions. Tonight my girl friend also consulted the wording from the manual and then suddenly we found the slot! So the problem has been solved now. Again thank you for your help!!

Hi YamFazMan,
On April 1 you advised me a 16GB or 32GB Class 10 Micro SDHC Memory Card for my TomTom Start 42. Is there a TomTom shop in the Netherlands in or near Utrecht (= is situated in the center of the country) where I can buy this kind of card? Thanks for your answer.

Hi Doug,
Thanks. I just ordered by phone a card at a well known big store in the Netherlands.

Hi DougLap and YamFazman,
I've got a problem with "voices"'.
The computer voice which reads the instructions, for example "drive to the right side", only worked the first time that I used my TomTom Start 42. After this time my TomTom only delivers visual information, but the voice you should hear keeps in deep silence.
I tried many things, among other things re-installation of my drive ( several times I did this), but nothing helps. If I go to the menu of installing "voices" I cannot find what's the name of the computerized voice in Dutch language.
The only choices I see are the names of actors etc., but from the manual I understand these kind of voices can't speak the instructions loudly, so you do not hear them.
A very nasty thing when you're on the road. Please, can you help me to solve this problem and can you give met the Ducth names of the computerized voices, e. g. "Jan".
Thanx,
Greetings,
Kees275

Hi
@ees275
@VikramK or @lampard the site Moderators should pick this up and allocate the appropriate Computer Voice for installing on your device... Xander in Holland
Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Settings --> Voices....
Always use a Computer voice
Sett the next 5 setting to 'ON'
___________________________
For a general improvement using the Tomtom Speed Cam Database over the default settings
Always use a Computer voice...
Serena or Malcolm here in the UK
Xander in Holland
Also....
From the main screen... Tap (.... Menu) -> Setting -> Sounds & Warnings...
Set... 'Warning Type' to... Read Allowed... (Important... Needs a Computer Voice set in the Voices menu)
Speed Cameras & Hazards... Set to ON
The next 10 Setting ALL set to Always
The next 4 Settings ALL set to ON
Now after the normal Warning double 'Ding'
The device will now 'Say' the name of the Warning ....
'Fixed Camera'
'Mobile Hot Spot'
'Red-light Camera'
'Accident Black-spots
‘Spoken Traffic delays’
Speed Cams
If you keep a check on the Traffic-bar... The device gives you a visual Warning of the next Fixed or Mobile Speed Camera many miles before you reach the camera
Even more info if in the 'Setting menus' you setup a Wide Traffic/Route Bar

Hi all
@Kees275Hi DougLap and YamFazman,

Only to complete @YamFazMan message.
I think for the voices you went to the TomTom website.
The download of computer voices (TTS) is done with MyDrive Connect software as for Maps.
Look at the picture below, in the list, search for Xander voice (59MB).
With your device connected to the PC:
==> In MDC / "My Content" tab / go down to "My Voices" / "Add voices to your device" / choose a TTS voice (50 / 60MB) Xander for you / "Install" button
