How do I connect my tomtom to my computer?

I have downloaded my Drive and registered an account my device is plugged into my laptop via the usb cable that came with the device. The device is saying that it is "connecting to your computer" however my device is not showing on My drive.
can anyone help or know why this is happening as I need to update the maps on my device.

If not then contact Customer Support to check your account as the Go Live 1005 is an older unit and the settings on the account may need sorting.
Heve a look at this Topic on the forum as some have been having trouble with 1005's freezing.
