my rider 400 is used infrequently. i have not yet got around to installing the power cable on the bike as i swapped bikes recently. just got back from a long weekend and the battery is flat. just wondering if the device should be stored with the battery fully charged or flat. does either option have any affect on long term battery life ?

Never store any battery type empty. That destroys them.
TomTom uses a lithium battery, so keep it half charged (Ideally 40%).

Hi @cos_is_85
Have a look on Youtube. "Replace battery in Go 50 or 500 or 5000 and decide if you fancy doing it yourself. I have done it. Get battery for Ebay or Amazon etc and maybe get one with the tools to do the job.
All the best
