Choice of Warning Sounds

I have been a TomTom supporter for more years than I care to remember and have purchased a number of models in that time. After receiving a few nagging emails regarding limited support for older models I finally took advantage of what appeared to be a rather generous offer to upgrade to a 6200 model.

The new shiny machine arrived very promptly but my excitement quickly passed after my first journey when I discovered that I can no longer discriminate betwen the warning sounds for speeding and cameras etc.

Fortunately I am able to take advantage of a money back guarantee so am to some extent sadly returning the shiny new 6200 for a refund after seeing on this forum that this is a known issue.

Thank heavens I still have my old TomTom!

Hi

For general improvement using the Tomtom Speed Cam Database over the default settings

Always use a Computer voice...
Serena or Malcolm in the UK
Also....
From the main screen... Tap (.... Menu) -> Setting -> Sounds & Warnings...
Set... 'Warning Type' to... Read Allowed... (Important... Needs a Computer Voice set in the Voices menu)
Speed Cameras & Hazards... Set to ON
The next 10 Setting ALL set to Always
The next 4 Settings ALL set to ON
The device will now say....
'Fixed Camera'
'Mobile Hot Spot'
'Red-light Camera'
'Accident Black-spots
‘Spoken Traffic delays’

Speed Cams
If you keep a check on the Traffic-bar... The device gives you a visual Warning of the next Fixed or Mobile Speed Camera many miles before you reach the camera
Even more info if in the 'Setting menus' you setup a Wide Traffic/Route Bar

Thank for you kind reply. Sadly it does not come close to my XXL in terms of notifications. I can see many other users are having the same reservations. I wonder how many units have been returned so far?

Thank goodness I still have my two XXL devices.
