My drive and my 6100 & 6200

Having bought a 6200 recently I’m giving my son my three year old 6100, the problem I have is that I thought I would delete all the my places on the 6100 before giving it to him, having done this I noticed that it has also deleted them on my new 6200 how can I get around this please.

I assume that you have both units on the same Tomtom account. If you have then another problem you could experience is that if you create a route in MyDrive and send it to your GO6200 at the same time it will also send it to your GO6100. This will be disconcerting for your son especially if he is in mid journey at the time.
To avoid the above problems create separate accounts for each unit.

For your "My Places", unfortunately it will have to recreate them, MyDrive synchronization deleted them on both devices.
