cant transfer to device?

I downloaded the latest updates for my device yesterday17/01/19 but they will not transfer to my device. I get a message that says either, 'my device is not connected and to unplug the plug in again or servers are busy. It goes through the process of updating until the 'WAITING FJOR DEVICE and then just sits there doing nothing. What is the problem?
This started after installing the latest version v18.202.0024.311
My device (TomTom Go 610) is sitting there as I type this. (2 hours so far today).

    Thanks dhn. Before contacting the number you provided I attempted a final install and, even though I got a few DEVICE NOT CONNECTED; SERVERS BUSY; RETRY and TRY AGAIN LATER I finaly got the updates installed on my device.

    I have an Aguri car/truck sat nav that has always updated instantaneously without any problems. Too much time wasting with Tom Tom and it gets worse annually. I will not buy a new Tom Tom when the time comes and stick with Aguri.
