Tomtom Go 50 stuck in update with full memory

I have a Tomtom Go 50. It was a while since I last updated the device and it's been installing updates for a few months now (at first I thought something was wrong, but it seems pushing updates to the device is just slow).

When I started the update process I didn't have a memory card installed.

Now the device memory is full (0 bytes free) but MyDrive-Connect still tries to install updates and doesn't let me free up space by either uninstalling voices I don't use or by moving the map to the memory card.

Is there a way to stop the update process so I can free up some space?

    Update: It seems the outtage also had an effect. The device has resumed updating, although I'm not sure for how long will it keep going with "0 bytes free".

    It seems other people have been having the same issue a few years now. TomTom support tell me there is no way to cancel the update process. This is ridiculous....

    It's almost two years now since the problem first manifested and my device is still "updating". All I've heard from TomTom support is it's a known issue and a fix is being developed. That was 6 moths ago.... Very poor performance.
