Why does it STILL take soooooooo long to download updates and soooooooo long to install? TomTom this is your end not ours! I like the device and routing service but your app and download rates suck. Get with the modern world or lose customers...

Which Tomtom device do you own ???
How Fast/Slow is your Internet connection ???
Have you tested your connection speed
Try the 'Which' broadband speed test... for a real World speed check
    Which Speed test

It's not down to the device or our broadband providers! This happened on my previous device and, if you read other forum posts, is a problem at your end. Map updates can take hours to download then more hours to install. Last time I updated maps it took 2 to 3 hours to download then more than 2 hours to install... Others with faster broadband have similar problems - look at all the posts!

Edit... just updated my GO 5000
Full Europe map v10.20 size 8.199GB
NAV4 GO 5000 over USB using MyDrive connect....
Map Download only... 10mins 50seconds (Stopwatch)
    Download + Install 1hr 4mins 37seconds (Stopwatch)

See 'Online Download speed calculator'... https://www.download-time.com/
    File size = 1.199 GB Connection speed = 110Mb/s... Result 10Mins 40Secs
Actual Download time from Tomtom... 10mins 50 seconds (Stopwatch)

    I'm happy with the 8.199 GB update in a 1hr 4mins 37secs

For me this update is fastest yet... Full Europe map v10.20 size 8.6GB....
    18mins 3secs (Stopwatch)
    Virgin media 110Mb/s (Speed checked)
NAV5 (Wi-Fi) GO 520 over USB with MyDrive connect running in the background....
NAV5 (Wi-Fi) Devices update on the fly i.e... No Download/Upload/Install

Tomtom Go Basic on a 100mbps connection - currently 53% through installing updates
    after 12 hours!
It does feel like my current Tomtom is no faster than the one I had 15 years ago - except that did update faster than this.
I am also having issues with my device crashing when it gets hot in my car. If this continues I will do what my kids do and use Google maps instead - unlimited updates, no fee, almost instant downloads and updates. That's the competition you're facing now. Once you've exhausted the brand loyalty of people like me, I think you're going to hit a massive wall trying to sell to then next generation, unless there is a huge change in policy and quality.

Just updated my GO Premium to the Full Europe Map v1075,
Virgin Media 110 MB/s (Speed checked) Map 8.62 GB Over USB
Full install and ready to use 28 mins 5 secs (Stop watch)

Can't be bothered with Wi-Fi... I've never seen a Wi-F1 connection speed above 72 Mbps on my Go Premium... I guess that's the Max Download speed of the previous (Wi-Fi) connected devices over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
The latest devices like the GO Discover can connect to a 2.4 or 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi connection

    Stay Safe... ATB YFM
