How do I install navigate to post code without connecting to a PC?"

I have just bought the Go 620 and am trying to install navigate to postcode but cannot because my pc does not recognize my device. I have tried updating the driver, uninstalled and re-installed mydrive connect but when I connect the device nothing shows in file explorer although it says its connected on mydrive nothing happens its stuck at the update through wifi screen, Also satnav not asking me if I want to connect to computer as myold XL used to. Is there a way to install navigate to a postcode via the 620?
Many thanks.

    Hi
    @mickeybug

On the NAV4/5 (Wi-Fi) devices the postcodes are embedded into the Map
You can't install a Postcode file

The GO 620 has two search modes 'Quick Search' (The best) and Step by Step
    To check... Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Setting --> System --> About --> Choose a search mode
For Postcode search use 'Quick Search'
When entering a Postcode Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Search.... Enter Postcode
DO NOT use a space in the postcode

Step by Step search mode... Postcode + House Number
This is a long standing problem....
The Postcode code search bug when using the Step by Step search mode is a real pain
Any search for a Postcode... You have to enter a road/street name to execute a search ??? Why....
If you know the road/street name and a house number you don't need the Postcode
Most people use a Postcode because they don't know the road/street name and house number
Isolated farms, Single building, Office blocks, Retail parks, Hospitals, New builds etc...

    The NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices like you’re GO 620 update using Wi-Fi...
All the update actions are executed on the device...

    Option... (1) Connected Wifi
Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Updates & New Items
Extra Maps are Installed/Maintained... Setting --> Maps

I always update my devices one Update at a time
The NavCore Application and QuickFixGPS updates are force ticked by Tomtom... Deselect any other updates like Maps, Speed Cams etc... Update the mandatory item/s, when complete update the remaining items one at a time

Note... NAV(5 Wifi) devices connected over Wifi do not require MyDrive Connect to be running Even if myDrive is running you have no access the MyDrive Connect menu structures as used by the previous NAV3 & 4 devices
    ______________________________
    Option... (2) Connected USB
If Wi-Fi is not available or is slow/unstable/unreliable.....
Tomtom recommend a minimum Wi-Fi download speed of 30Mbps
Updating your new NAV5 (Wi-Fi) device over USB will require "MyDrive Connect"
    Get it here.....
    www.tomtom.com/getstarted
    Run MyDrive Connect.....
Note... The NAV(5 Wifi) devices have no access the MyDrive Menu structures as used by the previous NAV3 & 4 devices
MyDrive Connect will only show a "Splash screen" saying "Connect your device using Wifi" etc
If required You can close the 'Main Mydrive Window' showing the "Connect your device using Wifi" Splash screen... MyDrive Connect only needs to run in the background on the PC TaskBar

Connect your Device to a USB Port on your PC
Updating a NAV5 (Wi-Fi) device using USB is the same as using Wi-Fi, all of the update actions are executed on the device...
Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Updates & New Items
Extra Maps are Installed/Maintained... Setting --> Maps

Hi YamFazMan. Thanks for the info. I'll have to do any updating via wifi as my pc does not recognise my device although it makes the connection sound when plug in or unplugged but file explorer doesn't show it. It is different from my old One XL where everything was pretty straight forward and I could access and manage what I had installed on it through tomtom home. But will try again to see if my pc will recognise it. once again thanks for your help. Will see how it goes over time as I've only used it once so far just to see how it works. Regards Mickeybug.
