OLD Tom Tom Rider - Red cross on screen. Device not seen by TomTom Home

Apart from my newer TTR 400 i still have an OLD TOMTOM RIDER that i would like to have working.
For now my laptop (macbook pro) does see a disk, named EXTERNAL.
But the TT HOME software does not see the device.

I formatted the device, it starts up but then i get the 'red cross'' :(
I followed the below instrcuctions to copy the HOME IMAGES folder (and later even just the contents of that folder) to the device.

No changes :(
Still a red cross.
And no connection with TOM TOM HOME
Makes me sad....

Does anyone have a clue how to get the device working and the connection re-established between TT HOME and the device????
