[VIA 1515] My device keeps disconnecting on an Acer Swift 3

This started happening during an update, and now I have the "no maps found" error; but I can't do anything to remedy it because no matter what I try, the device keeps disconnecting after ~30 seconds.
I'm using the original cable; I tried all 3 USB ports on my laptop; I turned off my firewall and anti-virus; uninstalled/reinstalled MyDriveConnect
I'm using the latest version of MyDriveConnect (as of October 18, 2018); I can't see what version the device is because of the error, and can't find it on MyDriveConnect.

Laptops need to be connected to power while updating your device
Re "Download/installation interrupted".....
Are your USB ports set for power saving "USB Selective Suspend"

Click on link and scroll down to "Turn Off USB Selective Suspend"
Also turn off any Screen savers any other Power savers or USB port monitoring software installed
