Trouble updating device start25

So I have a TomTom start25 and am having trouble updating the software via MyDrive Connect. MyDrive will recognise my device when initially plugged in and will start updating, but it then loses the connection somehow and tells me to plug my device in, evem though it is still connected. I have tried rebooting my laptop, fully charging the TomTom, taking it out/back in MULTIPLE times, searched the driver etc as found on Google but I'm still having problems. Any help would be appreciated!!
