TomTom XL booting only on USB Mode

Hi there.
I own a TomTom XL mobile navigation and have been using it for quite a while now but all of a sudden it will not boot. I've tried reseting it but nothing happens. Since the system will not boot i can't even back the maps up to format the drive. Every time i connect it to my laptop it promts me to format the drive. I've tried holding the reset button for 20 secs but nothing happens. Not sure what else to do. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

From your screen shot... I see your serial number starts with GI
If you enter GI on this Tomtom FAQ...

You will see that model has unfortunately been declared EOL (End of life)
Your device is a TomTom XL IQ Routes ² / XL Classic with 2GB memory and it updates through TomTom HOME.

Tomtom have already stated that Lifetime Maps and any Existing Map Subscriptions will be honoured

From the first two character of the serial number (Device ID):-
"GI">XL IQ Routes ² / XL Classic, 2GB, TomTom HOME NAV2 Eol
That means that it has been declared 'End of Life' see https://promo.tomtom.com/en_gb/1/replacement-offer/#page-block-dd1bqwt2s1
So there will be no more updates0 -

Unfortunately nothing posted above has addressed your particular and specific boot problem but does tell you there's no further support (maps/updates etc) available for you.
As a last resort (ignoring TTHome and ensuring it's been on charge for a few hours so the green light shows as fully charged) try connecting to your PC and THEN pressing the power button to switch it on, or even holding the power button down until you hear the drum roll & then release it
