Having been told by my TomTom 6200 that there are two updates to be installed, including maps, I plugged it into my laptop, as normal, and tremulously started the update process. That was three days ago, since when it has failed on all occasions having only reached a different percentage of download on each occasion - the most it has achieved is 48%, after many hours overnight, before failing.

Now it has no maps at all, and never finishes completing a download.

Although as a navigational device, it is excellent, why is it that updating is such a nightmare each time? it wasn't much better with my previous model, either.

    Anything here?:

Might you have an antivirus affecting proper transmission?

Thanks. Tried turning the AV off, but no difference.

In another thread, I am told that My Drive Connect doesn't work with my device...

It's all as clear as mud.

    Hi @Old Goat

To better understand how you can update your Go6200 Wifi with your Wi-Fi connection directly or via your PC with MyDrive Connect, check this FAQ.

MyDrive Connect is only used as an intermediary to use the internet connection of the PC. Choose the most powerful and stable, Wifi or via PC.

All the management of your updates is done in your GO6200 whether direct Wifi or with MDC.
your device ==> Main Menu (4Dots ....) / Settings / Updates and New Items

During updates your device must be connected to a power source.
Don't do all the updates at the same time, but one at a time.
Uncheck the one you don't want to do and always do it in that order:
    1/ NaVCore (mandatory)
    2/ Map one by one
    3/ Speed Camera
    4/ Map share

    - After each update, perform a Soft Reset:
The battery of your device must be full or connect to a power source.
Press and hold the On/Off button until you hear the drum sounds and the device restarts. This can take 30 seconds or more. If you see a black screen with white text, hold down the button until you hear the drum sounds.
It's like doing a Restart on a PC, it forces the complete reboot of the internal software of your device. You will not lose anything and this manipulation solves and often unblocks small worries.

If you have problems contact TomTom support for more help.

    Thank you.

Finally managed to download and instal the two updates shown on my TomTom.

After half a dozen failures, each one necessitating a restart, the process took a total of four days. Not good.
