How to get accurate maps in Malaysia?

I’m currently on a trip to Malaysia and thought it would be handy to bring my Tom Tom Go 5200. How wrong I was. I downloaded the SE Asia map last week and it turns out to be a disaster.

My experience so far in Kuantan and Cameron Highlands: Roads are named incorrectly or not all. One way streets are not marked. Whole roads are missing in some cases. Waze seems far superior in that the roads are correctly loaded and navigation is better. Is there any plan to improve the maps and navigation for Malaysia? Are there any Malaysians here with tips on how to improve the results from a TomTom?
