I don't know MAC OS but the fact that your TomTom device always disconnects at the same download percentage makes me think of possible causes identical to Windows PCs.
1 / Check if in the MDC settings, if "Download updates on my computer (recommended)" is checked.
2 / "Sleep Mode" or "Energy Saver" cut off access to the network card or hard disk or USB ports. I disable it for MDC updates.
3 / An aggressive firewall that blocks connections with TomTom servers. I had to make a total exception for the MDC executable file.
VPNs are also blocking, the only known solution is uninstalling the driver.

the info re windows is good and I followed something similar to no effect.
i know it says do not disconnect whilst updating but having read a load of stuff on the forum I had nothing to loose so I disconnected and connected to my MacBook and didn’t update the mydrive connect software
Tomtom update started saying 52% complete nearing the end of update the tomtom said no maps available to update so reinstall or buy new!
in the end it all updated and map was there

The main thing is that you finally have your map.
Glad for you.
