Turn display by 180 degrees

mawallacemawallace Posts: 4 [Apprentice Traveler]
I am not sure if it's by accident or design but the display does not rotate 180 degrees.

It does to 90 or 270 but not 180.

It's a pain as to use my S8 in the car I have to have the power lead going into the top of the phone (long story) so the phone has to be upside down. All other apps turn 180 degree - but not yours.

I have tested other GPS apps and they do the same.

They do not right themselves when the phone is put upside down.

So it appears not to be unique to TOMTOMGO app

Looks like you will have to live with it or put your phone on it's side or straight up.

Google has no problems to know the phone is upside down.

And for what ever reason your power cable is run that way I would gather you wanted to hide the cable.

Maybe a longer cable routed another way would help.

I already said that Google map works.

The test I ran was on a Hauwei P20 lite Android 8.0
Also just ran a test on my wifes Hauwei P8 lite Android 6.0

Also all the Sygic apps have the same problem and do not work with the screen upside down. The display itself remains upside down.

I just ran a test on a Asus 7" tablet and there it works no mater which way you hold the tablet.

So there seems to be something with smartphones and 3rd party GPS apps.

I have not tested and other GPS apps other then TomTomGO and all of the Sygic GPS apps.

You will have to see if you run into the same problem with other GPS other than Google Maps.

It is hard to say if TomTom or any other company will find this as any high priority to change.

I do not see it happening as most user's run their smartphone straight up or on it's side.

I know this does not help you out.

But anyway have a nice day.........

Try an app like Rotation Control Pro. With these apps you can set a fixed rotation or something else.
