Live traffic not working on Tom Tom GO 5200

edited January 2019 in TomTom Services
I cannot seem to get live traffic reports on my Tom Tom 5200. The symbol is permanently greyed out. When I tried to go through the trouble shooting I discovered that I don't have the Tom Tom services button/ icon on my menu. I have read I may need to reset the device. Will this mean I will have to re se up Tom Tom account.? Has anyone overcome this problem with live traffic reports?

    Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. No data will be lost and no account info is lost.

    I have tried a reset but no luck. I don't have an icon in the menu for Tom Tom services so can't activate live traffic.

    What does it say if you go to System/About? My GO 6200 lists Traffic and says it's activated with a lifetime subscription.

    Mine says it's activated but not available, try again later. i also do not seem to have a Tom Tom services icon in my menu so can't go into it and set it like it suggests on the help pages. I have e mailed the support service now and am awaiting a reply.

    Hi
    @LBridge

    TomTom Traffic or LIVE Services isn't working
    https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10316

    The menu 'Tomtom Services' menu is ONLY on the NAV4 Devices

    MyDrive menu paths NAV4
    NAV4... Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Tomtom Services --> MyDrive...

    NAV5 (Wi-fi) Like your GO 5200...
    Tap 4dot (.... Menu) --> Setting --> MyDrive...

    I don't have Tom Tom services anywhere in the menu. My GPRS status says disconnected.

    Hi all

    @LBridge
    In your GO5200 you entered your TomTom account information? Your email and your password. This allows the connection and activation of your services.

    Have you already made an update of the device via Wifi?

    I guess your at Home and your device is connected to your Home Wi-Fi
    The Wi-Fi when connected it will take priority over GPRS SIM

    Try moving out of the Range of your Wi-Fi
    Or
    Logout of your Wi-Fi....
    Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Settings --> Wi-Fi
    Tap on your Connected Wi-Fi
    Tap (Modify) Icon
    Tap (Finish) Icon
    To verify the Wi-Fi is OFF Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) screen top right Wi-Fi logo with an 'X'

    To Reconnect to Wi-Fi....
    Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Settings --> Wi-Fi
    Tap on your chosen Wi-Fi
    Enter your Wi-Fi Password
    Tap Done
    Tap Connect

    Being away from home WiFi did enable GPRS to connect but live traffic still unavailable.

    Hi all.
    After jumping through hoops I find the TomTom sims are archaic and on the very old 2G network. Guess what? It was turned off and now NONE of these GPS's have traffic direct. I contacted TomTom and was offered a new device at 50% off. Yes still cost me $150 but received yesterday and it needs phone connection. A sim card upgrade to G4 would have given years of extra but they are no longer offering Sim ready devices. Go figure. Customer preferences don't seem a priority :(
