TomTom created a 'fit for purpose' way to update.
If you have multiple units why do you have to download GBs of data multiple times? Surely one download could then update all the units.
Why are the download servers so slow?
Why no Linux solution? The units run on Linux.
Why don't the wifi versions batteries have the capacity to download over wifi?
Why can't the download be done without the unit connected?
Just a few ideas that would drag TomTom , kicking and screaming, into the 21st century.

Hi
@SteveDuk
With all honesty I can say that 99% of the time the updates to my 8 various Tomtom devices are fast reliable and go without a hitch...
My Broadband Virgin Media 100Mbps
Home Wi-Fi to PC 30 Mbps... to iPhone 76 Mbps... I have no Idea of the Wi-Fi connection speed to the NAV5 devices
NAV4 Full Europe Map update... Around 50 to 55 Mins
I hardly ever bother with Wi-Fi its much quicker over USB
NAV5 Full Europe Map update... Around 25 Minutes, Updates on the fly... (No download --> Decompress --> Transfer over USB --> Install on device)

But wouldn't it be easier if you only had to download each update once? And if MyDrive Connect would download the update ready for you to plug the devices in?
That's the way most software works. Even Windoze can do that.0 -

are different in size so a different Map, the GB&ROI Map for the Start 60 is obviously a different size
So it will require three downloads to update the individual devices
I don't have to re-download Maps... 99% of the time the updates to my 8 various Tomtom devices are fast reliable and go without a hitch...SteveDuk wrote:If MyDrive Connect would download the update ready for you to plug the devices in?
There is an option to download updates to your PC at a predetermined time slot
I hadn't yet updated my Rider 400 to map v1010, I cleared the MDC cache and set the time slot this Morning to 9:45AM to 11:00AM
When I looked at 11:05AM there was 6.78GB of data in the cache
Connected my Rider 400 the device immediately started to update (No pre-download) and completed the update without a hitch
As far as I recall when using MyDrive Connect with NAV4 devices, MDC only monitors the active Map on the device, If you have multiple Maps on a NAV4 device its probably best to update the none active maps manually with MDC
NAV5 Maps... Update on the fly... (No download --> Decompress --> Transfer over USB --> Install on device)SteveDuk wrote:That's the way most software works. Even Windoze can do that.
