My drive connect has been used previously with success on my pc to update my satnav.

A dialogue box now opens and tells me that My drive connect will not start as I have a file missing on my computer
api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0

I have unstalled my drive connect and reinstalled it and have reloaded microsoft visual C + + but I still get the error message.

Try a complete removal of MyDriveConnect using the FREEWARE version of Revo Uninstaller. Get it here: https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Then get a fresh copy of MDC from tomtom.com/getstarted and try again.

    Hi all

    @andyboy
What is your operating system, W10, W8 or W7? If it's Windows 7 with the SP1 pack or not?

    Regards.

    It's W7 home premium 64bit. Not sure about SP1.
By the way unistalling with Revo and reinstalling unfortunately didn't work

    Hi @andyboy

Thank you for your confirmation, you are in W7 64bits with SP1. So we can try the classic solution before the rescue solution if the one proposed by @dhn doesn't help you.

To install the latest version MDC 4.2.1.3495 your Windows must have a Windows Update installed before.

    1 / Uninstall MDC and Visual C++ 2015 via the Control Panel/Uninstall a program
    - Restart your PC (Not Shut down or Sleep)

2 / Download the missing Windows KB2999226 here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows
For W7 SP1 64bits this is the 8th line of the gray board ==> All supported x64-based versions of Windows 7
    - Restart your PC (Not Shut down or Sleep)

3 / Download and install the latest version MDC 4.2.1.3495
    - On this page, at the bottom, the green button "Download for Windows®":
    https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/mydrive-connect/
    - Or here directly from TomTom official servers:
    http://cdn.sa.services.tomtom.com/static/sa/Windows/InstallTomTomMyDriveConnect.exe

If nothing works, you can download the downgrade version 4.1.8.3408 here directly from the official TomTom servers:
    http://cdn.sa.services.tomtom.com/static/sa/versions/InstallMyDriveConnect_downgrade.exe

This version is built like the previous before january 2018 with Visual C++ 2010.
Double- click on the file, the installer will remove the MDC present on your PC before installing the downgrade version.

I hope this will help you.

    Regards.

    Hi LAURIE123

I updated my satnav on another computer just to make certain it was ok and it all worked fine.

On my wayward computer I deleted C++ 2015 and MDC and restarted the PC. I then installed Windows KB2999226, which failed. I then immediately installed the downgrade version of MDC, which works fine and has updated my stanav successfully.
    Thank you very much indeed.

One last question however. Can I stop this version of MDC being updated?

    Thanks again and best regards

    Hi @andyboy

Glad for you, the main thing is to have a functional MDC software.

Don't worry, the downgrade version 4.1.8.3408 doesn't force the update of the software, it will leave you alone, no surprise pop-up.

Out of curiosity, do you remember the failure message you had for the KB2999226?
On my PC in W7 64Bits SP1 I got this update by "Windows Update" in September 2015 as an optional. My "Windows Update" is set to inform me of all updates, important recommended and optional. I sort it out before installing if necessary.

    Regards.

    Hi Laurie123

Sorry I didn't copy the message when KB2999226 failed to load; when I saw the word failed I closed the page and moved on.

    Best Regards
