Can I get a map upgrade for my via 120 live?

I am planning a trip to London soon & thought it would be wise to upgrade my map. However I am finding it harder to navigate Tom Tom’s website than the streets. Am I correct in thinking that my device is no longer of any use as I am unable to update my map?

It all depends on the first two characters of the serial number

    "AI">Via 120, 4GB, MyDrive Connect NAV3
    "AN">Via 120, 2GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3 Eol
    "AR">Via 120, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
    "AS">Via 120, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
    "AU">Via 120, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3
    "FM">Via LIVE 120, 2GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3 Eol
    "FN">Via LIVE 120, 4GB + micro-SDHC, MyDrive Connect NAV3

So if it is "AN" or "FM" then it is "End of Life" see https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/obsolete-products/

Otherwise buy you map of the UK from here https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/sat-nav/maps-services/shop/travel-map/united-kingdom-ireland/

I know it’s an FM. If I had purchased maps for life would I be able to upgrade maps? Does anybody know what the life of a device is? 3-5yrs? Seems expensive to buy a TomTom for such a short product life. Should I spend another £100+ or would the maps on my smartphone be equally as good & automatically updated? What should I do?

Thanks Niall. Unfortunately I don’t have lifetime maps so I am assuming my device is just an expensive paperweight?
Not to worry, I think I will use my smartphone from now on. It’s cheaper & up to date. It’s a shame TomTom no longer support this device. Obviously this has nothing to do with technology as if I were to subscribe to lifetime maps I would be able to update my device.
