New upgrade for app on iPhone

Hi,
when I try to upgrade my app for new app for free, as I’m entitled to do as I already have tomtom app. it will not accept my password when logging in in the old app as I’m trying to upgrade despite renewing it several times through the ‘forgot password’. I’ve tried creating a new account but it says that my email already has an account attached to it. Frustrating. As it doesn’t want to accept my password! Any help gratefully received. Thanks
