I am unable to access my TomTom to get past the front screen-Tomtom VIa 130

I have had my TomTom for approx. 5 years, and the past week I am unable to get past the opening screen to get to the menu. I have tried downloading and updating but this is not possible and I am wondering if I need a new satnav?

    I would recommend you try a soft reset on the device and see if that helps.

    Soft reset: Press and hold the on/off button till you hear the drum sounds.
