Update no longer available for older model with lifetime map update

KottKott Posts: 11 [Apprentice Traveler]
lifetime map update means nothing now, huh? Why Tomtom needs to lie? Why don’t just say 3-5 yrs free map update? I’m really annoyed. You should give me 75 percent discount for lying??

I am very upset when reading the email below received on Jan 22, 2018.
I bought Tomtom XXL for the LIFETIME map updates for FREE. There is no more update anymore. This is totally unfair!!!:persevere:

Every day, at TomTom, we work very hard to bring you the best navigation experience ever. A big part of this work is to continuously improve the quality of the maps, services and software that your GPS runs on. It has become clear that some of our older generation navigation devices do not have sufficient resources to run the newest maps and software available. We will continue to provide quick GPS fix updates so your device will continue to function as it does now, but your map will become out-of-date and as such navigation will be less accurate. For this reason, we have had to stop software updates, sales of map updates and other services as of January 2018. Your trusted device will still work perfectly but you will no longer be able to buy any further map update. The latest generation of TomTom devices now come with Free lifetime updates for World Maps, Traffic and Speed cameras. Maps, services and software are easily updated via Wi-Fi without the need to connect to a computer. They are also the fastest devices we have ever built, with quad core processors and 16GB of memory (expandable via SD card). In case you think it's a good time to consider replacing your TomTom device, please see more information on our latest devices below

Since my device had a lifetime map update AND you are no longer going to update maps to my device AND since you no longer take phone or email messages, I will never contact you again. I do not want a new device at 20 percent off and will never recommend your products to anyone because of the way you handled this.

Tomtom already made up their mind to screw us over. I don’t think by calling ca going to help resolve the issue. I am currently looking at different brand of GPS. I hate people who are being deceitful & liar.

Kott, we are all users like yourself. We often suggest calling support since they have tools that might, just might, help the user.

Unlike people such as yourself who seem to enjoy disparaging other users.

How is that help? There’s no resolution because many of us don’t want to stand up to bully, it called bystanders effect or cowered in the corner. I ain’t disparaging you or any users. I only disparaged Tomtom. You want me to call CS, they probably just choo me away like a pest. Why don’t you call them and tell me about it?

I have been their loyal customer for more than a decade, I haven’t posted any negative about them, matter of fact I have never post anything up until now. I am just super angry, I need to be compensated more than 30 percent discount which I know they will give in. That’s why I’m moving on. Just don’t mention my name on the post. If you want to help, do it yourself first & tell me about it later

So, calling a user here a 'snake' and a 'lackey' is not disparaging them??

    Yeah, whatever......................

@dhn hey, you know why magicians are good at performing magic? Because they hired paid actors to distract people or be in their acts. Do you think Tomtom doesn’t have people to do that in this forum of discussions? How would I know you are not one of those despicable snakes(cough...vikramk)? Now I’m beginning to wonder why you are so mellow & a saint when people ripped you off. I already gave up on being compensated because there are only few of us who are pissed off & angry while most of you are spectating & cult folllowing sheeps. There, I’ve disparaged everyone that are sheeps. Hope you’re happy now? You won

Maybe I just don't follow the Trump mentality for name calling...............

Lol maybe you are Canadian. I should not ask Tomtom to compensate me, I should ask you instead. Please give me $200, I’m sure you don’t mind since you are a saint
