Device not updating- MyDrive Connect

hello

i have a tomtom go 2505 (aka 1005) i'm trying to update but it seems stuck at 'waiting for device'
  • the device is connected to a win 10 pc, it is recognized by windows
  • tomtom mydrive sees it,
but when i click update, it gets stuck at 'waiting for device' and the device displays the 'checking for updates keep your device connected' popup on its screen.

back in december when i updated the maps it was the same problem.

what is going on with this thing, is there a way to fix it ?
