Updating my devices

I have recently tried to update my One Xl and One 30 and it has failed on both. When updating it gets about half way through and then says an error has occurred. So I try again and Tom Tom home says no device connected. When I check both on my computer it says both devices are completely wiped and before I can do anything I need to format disks. Is there anything that can be done to sort this problem out ?
