Spark watch LCD screen has 'dead spots'

I have a TomTom Spark cardio + music GPS watch, and the warranty recently (15 days ago) expired thereon. It never gave me any problems since I got it, but this morning I noticed that there are several 'dead spots' on the LCD screen.
The watch still performs as it should, however the spots keep bothering me when I see them. It looks like some of the LCD spots (sorry, I do not know the technical terms) stopped working. the watch did not get any shock, other than from normal use.
Does anyone know what could have caused it, and whether it can be repaired (without having to replace the entire LCD screen)...

    TomTom does not offer a repair service and glass breakage is not covered under warranty, but dead spots are another matter. Considering your warranty just expired I would call Customer Support and see if they can help you with it. To get the number, go to, choose Contact at the bottom, select the service required and the product name and click Contact Customer Care and then Phone Us. It will give you the phone number for the country your account is registered under (this can be changed by clicking the flag icon in the bottom right corner of the screen).
