TomTom looks good but is lacking most of the basics

I used to have a Garmin but it was out of date so I got a TomTom GO 50. I have encountered several issues that I didn't have with my previous satnav which are as follows.
- Mydrive looks good but it doesn't even have a cancel download button, after looking on forums this has been an issue for over a year!
- Mydrive takes ages to load
- Installing maps takes ages
- I don't have an option to just have UK maps, which I had with my old satnav which took a fraction of the time
- Mydrive - even though it has such limited option if it very confusing to use

Toby cant help with your issues but did Garmin also take you down ridiculous country lanes with its routing? Cheers

    Hi
My first Satnav was a Ga*m*n, I used it for a month it had truly awful routing, the traffic reporting was dreadful, also had a tendency to send me the wrong way down one-way streets
Swapped it for a Via 120 Live

I needed a new Sat nav as I now have a large motorhome and need to avoid some roads. Having examined the market I found there is not a perfect one. Far from it! But I stuck with tomtom (better the devil you know) and have to say the 620 professional is much faster than my old 6000 and downloading updates and maps over the built in wifi is very fast.

I don't recall MyDrive ever having a cancel download button... But I've never really needed one, I always install my Updates one at a time and rarely ever have a problem

What Speed is your internet connection?
Here 55Mbps, yes, the previous NAV4 devices Download the Map, Decompress and Transfer the Map file to the device, 7.18 GB in under an hour for My GO 5000 is very reasonable
The full Europe Map install on the GO 5000 7.18 GB around 55 Minutes

The Europe map from my GO 520
The latest NAV5(Wifi) devices install updates on the fly
My Fibre Broadband hardwired to router 55Mbps
My Fibre Broadband over Wifi 30 Mbps
    Full Europe 7.18GB
Device connected Hardwired and over USB with MyDriveConnect running in the background
Full Europe Map installed, device ready to use 24 Mins 43 Seconds

Yes the GB&ROI map would install more quickly
But you could try one of the smaller map Zones that Include the GB&ROI map

Did you only use the Main MyDrive Connect Screen ???
The are many update options in the submenus and if you scroll down the Update Screen that's displayed for the Individual Devices you'll find... Map Zones/Map wizard, Speed cams and Voices etc
