"There was a problem registering your device."

I received a TomTom Runner watch (original version?) a couple years ago for Christmas. It has sat in my closet until tonight. I took it out, charged it, downloaded the app, installed it, but now I can't register the device so that I can start using it. All it keeps saying is:

"There was a problem registering your device."

I am using a Mac laptop and running OS 10.11.6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a race next Sunday (10/29) and really wanted to use my watch by then.

    I assume that you have installed the app on your computer: https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/getstarted/p/4297 (via tomtom.com/123) and that you have connected it with the TomTom USB cable.

    Maybe it needs a bit more charging.

    Yes. Everything was installed, charged and ready to go. After about the 30th time, it randomly started working. Now it's working fine.
