TomTom GO 520 wi fi stuck in "Safe Mode"

In the left hand corner of my Tom Tom screen it says "Safe Mode" . I don't know if this is related but also im experiencing difficulty with the volume control. Can anyone offer any advice?

    But first:

    Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds.

    I've tried s drum reset and a general reset but it's still stays in "Safe Mode"

    showing safe mode in bottom left corner, tried drum roll, re set factory settings still same.
