Hi all,

We've just released a new software v1.6.26 for the TomTom Spark, Spark 3, Runner 2, Runner 3 and Adventurer watches and it's available for download in the TomTom Sports Connect.
What's new?

Fitness Age
TomTom Fitness Age is an indication of how well your body functions physically, relative to how well it should work, based on things like your heart rate during activities, maximum and resting heart rates, activity, gender, age, height and weight.
The more effective activity you do, the better your Fitness Age becomes. Start working on your Fitness Age by earning Fitness Points. You earn Fitness Points when you record your activity on a TomTom Sports watch with heart rate monitoring.
Click here to learn more about Fitness Age.
Music improvements
Your watch now remembers where you stopped in a music track or audiobook when you disconnect your headphones. You can also skip within a music track in 10 second increments by long pressing left and right on your watch.
Automatic pausing during activities
You can now set your watch to automatically pause and resume an activity based on movement. This is controlled by a new per activity setting. To learn more, go to Pausing and stopping an activity.
This is controlled by a setting accessed as follows:
1. From the Clock screen, press right.
2. Select one of the activities, then press right.
Tip: Auto pause can be used when running, cycling, trail running, hiking, freestyle, skiing and snowboarding.
3. When you see Please wait or Get going, press down.
4. Select PAUSE.
5. Select ON or OFF.
Control of syncing and alerts
New settings give you more control on when and how your watch syncs with your mobile device. You can also control whether you want to receive phone notifications on your watch or not.
From the Clock screen on your watch, press down to open the SETTINGS screen, then select PHONE and press right. Select MANAGE and then SYNCING. Choose from the following options:
o ON - Assuming your watch and mobile device are paired, automatic syncing of your activities to your Sports account happens when you open the Sports app. Syncing also occurs in the back-ground when the app is closed
o OFF - This setting saves your battery without you having to unpair your watch. No syncing can occur, either manual or automatic, and you receive no alerts.
o MANUAL - When set to MANUAL, you need to press a button on your watch to wake up your watch. Syncing then occurs when the Sports app is opened. This option also allows you to control battery use. You receive no alerts.
Coming soon:

Workouts
To workout more effectively, you can now select one of 50 personalised workouts that are downloaded automatically to the watch after connecting it to TomTom Sports website or app. There are workouts for both running and cycling activity types and they come in 5 categories: Fitness, Fat Burn, Endurance, Speed and Power.

Happy sporting! :D

You need to have Training as NONE in your selected activity (that is eligible for Pausing). I still cannot understand why that needs to be NONE - maybe someone can explain that to us.

After upgrading the firmware on my Runner 3 the bluetooth connection from the sports app on my iPhone6s to the watch no longer functions.
I've tried deleting the app, removing all devices and starting from scratch and it doesn't work.
When it occasionally tries to pair, the second the watch shows the PIN number it automatically drops back to displaying the time before I can even see the PIN number.
The watch completely locks up on occasions and won't do anything, then will suddenly catch up and tear through multiple menus before settling down again.
    Very frustrating.
*edit* I've reset my Runner 3 via the windows util and it still won't work. It was working flawlessly before the update...

Bit sad that the VO2max is buried deep on the webapp... no way to have it at least on the app? ( same for the resting heart rate) appart from that its pretty cool!

Your post/reply is just one of many comments. To get Tom Tom's attention - report it.

To report a problem go to Sports App> Settings> Feedback> Report a problem (remember to include anonymous app usage data)> Send.

In training mode you'd normally like to capture your whole activity to get the big picture. Some of the training modes also include time as a factor.

@ Sixtoe: For more immediate help I'd recommend you to go through this questionnaire. In the end of it you can choose to get in touch with our specialist at Customer Service who can help you further.

@ Andrea: I edited the announcement above so that the phone notification instructions are more prominent.

    Cheers, Mikko

@icemac I have the latest version of the software installed. From the settings menu -> MANAGE I selected SYNCING -> ON.
My phone is correctly connected and I got the icon on the watch screen that indicate the smartphone is connected and correctly synced.
I still don't have notification from my Android smartphone when I receive sms or call.

@MikkoK do I need to configure something else?

Make sure you have the latest Sports App v8.0.3 (Build 527) or a version that has support for Phone notifications.
Make sure you granted the app permission to your Contacts, Phone Text, Phone Calls.
Switch data connection on in your phone.
Ensure Phone notifications is selected in the Device Settings section of the app on the phone.
Wait for your app to finish any syncing or downloads of quickgps.

Then send yourself a native text message from your phone.

I tried to do exactly the procedure that you have suggested. I reinstalled the smartphone application and now it seems to works properly.
I got notification when somebody is calling me. Still don't get notification when I received SMS.

Which other notification service is supported?
    Thank you in advance.

Only native phone text (sms) is supported. Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp etc are not native applications and are not supported.

How do I turn fitness points off?
I have absolutely no interest in the points or fitness age. I don't use tracker, I don't use my watch for every physical activity (for example I briskly walk 2km twice a day for my work commute but don't use, or wear, my watch), they are completely arbitrary numbers which don't measure performance, and so these fitness points are an irrelevance, an inconvenience (they buzzed me with updates during my run today!) and lead to a completely inaccurate fitness age because I only use my watch once a week for a 5-10km run or hour long cycle ride.
Some of us simply want to use the product we purchased. If you do an update then any additional features must, surely, be optional?

Why has bluetooth syncing of my Spark 3 with the iOS app gone from taking about 30 seconds, to literally 10 minutes with the latest firmware and iOS app versions of your software? No joke, tonight I went and toasted some bread, heated soup, and set my table for dinner, and syncing was still at only 17%. A minute later (at about the 10 minute mark) it zipped to completion. Absurd :-(

    Hi
I have the updated version and have been earning points for the past 4 or 5 days.
However when I check on the website, although the points are displayed, nothing shows in the fitness age or the VO2 section on the graph.

    regards
    Steven

not every change is an improvement,
quite iritant, and especially if you have not asked for it,
If this was mentioned at the time of purchase I would never have purchased this product.
hopefully Tomtom will soon be able to turn this feature off. or at least a response.

You can deactivate them in Tracker->Goals->Off it won't bother you :)

    Hi again,
Could somebody please answer my query above why although earnings points my fitness age and VO2 metrics are not displayed on the website graph when searching under the body section. There is just a dash showing.

    regards
    Steven

The original post (first post in this topic) has a link to the Fitness Age (Points) and VO2 max, including everything you need to know.

If you cannot access that link for whatever the reason, here is some documentation from Tom Tom.

WHY DON’T I SEE MY FITNESS AGE?

There could be three reasons to this:
It could take some time to calculate your Fitness Age from your recent activity data. Within a week you should see it appearing as a card on your ‘Latest’ feed. You can speed up this process by doing more activities (especially running). You’ve seen your Fitness Age before, but the Fitness Age card no longer appears: This means your Fitness Age did not change. We show your Fitness Age card in ‘Latest’, after some time this will no longer be visible. We’ll show you your Fitness Age again as soon as it changes. If you do want to see your latest Fitness Age you can go to ‘Progress’ and filter on ‘Body’ (you can do this is in the header of the graph), at the bottom of the graph Fitness Age is one of the graphs you can select.
If you’re not very fit (yet!), we give an indication of how fit you are compared to the general female or male of your age, for example Your fitness level is lower than 85% of the average male of your age. This should give more information and also be more motivational to get going and make a change.

So you don't really say how many fitness points you have been getting. Perhaps you earned just too little for it to even give you a valid Fitness Age/V02max. Also check your Personal profile details, Date of birth, Weight, Gender. Tom Tom suggests you try 3 activities per week aiming to score 500 fitness points per activity on a weekly basis - after some time - you should then see something.

Turning off the 'fitness age' alerts and notifications: Did we ever get an answer to how to do this? I also want to turn off this new feature because the vibrations on the watch are really confusing when I'm running a training session such as short intervals which also vibrate to indicate time to change pace.
  • ally el deeally el dee Posts: 2 [Apprentice Seeker]
PS. I already have 'tracker' 'notifications' set to off. I still get these fitness age alerts on my watch. Any other suggestions please?
