I have bought a second hand Renault Clio with Carminat TomTom.
The satnav is telling me the device isn't registered and gives me a code of 2 sets of five digits to register at .
However tells me the code needs to be 3 sets of five digits.

How do I register my device?

    Hi Jane,

    Welcome to the Community!

Sounds like there's a very old map on the SD card. I'd recommend you to insert the SD card into your computer and update it with TomTom HOME.

Updating your navigation device with MyDrive Connect / TomTom HOME

    Cheers, Mikko

Thank you for your reply MikkoK,

I contacted the person I bought the car from and it seems the card is not from this car (maybe a Ford Focus). It was just a spare they had lying around so they put it in.

So how do I proceed from here? How do I tell TomTom Home I have this device in my car.
I have formatted the card and tried inserting it in the car to see if it will give up some code or indication that it exists but so far nothing. All I get is 'No maps found'.
Can I buy a map from TomTom, put it onto the empty card and use that without having to register the device?
