Which HR monitor straps work with TomTom Runner?

I own a TomTom HR strap however it cuts into my chest, so I wanted to buy a wrist / arm HR strap. So, I bought a Scosche Rhythym+ after reading reports that they worked with the original TomTom Runner, however this wasn't the case. Apparently firmware changes since then had made them incompatible. Luckily I had a friend who bought the band off me.

So, can anyone confirm an armstrap HR band which works with the current firmware of the original TomTom Runner?

My Scosche Rhythm+ works fine with my Runner1, but it is a few years old so maybe Scosche changed something in the underlying code since then. It would be worth reaching out to them and seeing if the can rollback to an earlier firmware build. HR straps are not something TT has tested as far as I know, so there is not a list of compatible devices. And besides the Scosche and Mio there are not a lot of other arm-based straps out there. Your best bet is to buy one from someplace with a good return policy so that if it does not work you can return it.

I hope this helped answer your question. If so, please mark it as a solution so others can look for it if they have the same question.

Thanks for the quick reply. Only the early non-firmware updated Rhythm+ bands seem to work with Runner 1. There is no longer a way to backdate the firmware using the Iphone Scosche App and I believe you need to return the band to Scosche to have it done for you. I wrote them a support email about it but never got a reply. Perhaps I will just wait until my Runner 1 eventually dies and get a wrist-based sensor watch instead. I really do appreciate your comments and suggestions above, however it is a disappointing outcome for me.

Interesting... I have the TT multisport watch and confirmed it had the Bluetooth Smart and figured it would work with the Rhythm plus (which also has the BT Smart). You guys have answered my question why I can't sync the damn thing after buying it today, while the sensor works fine with my phone. I guess I'll be returning it.
