tomtom spark 3 cardio - heart rate monitor not working

bought watch Jul '17, heart rate monitor was working. could see heart rate in runnning graphs and resting heart rate.
but recently stopped working. the heart rate menu in the tracker menu is greyed out. so can not turn it on.
I have read other forum posts which suggest turning the goals on and off but this has not worked.

    Can you double check that you have the sensor turn on in the Sensors menu?

    Hi Mikko,
    Thanks for your reply. I turned on the heart rate monitor in the Sensors menu
    and it has re-activated the heart menu in the tracker menu.
    I then activated the HR Monitor and tested with a run activity
    and I can see it is working

    PS: I thought the Sensors menu was just for external sensors ?

    The Sensors menu is indeed for all sensors.
