I am trying to use MySports Connect, which is installed on my MacBook (OS X 10.10.5), but it asks me to update it first, before it lets me in. When I run the update it fails with a message "SecurityAgent may only be invoked by Apple software". Has anyone else had this problem or found a solution?

Did you get this sorted already? It sounds to me like there's a restriction in your iOS for installing programs from external sources. You should check your iOS security settings.
